Passengers In Hospital Following Fatal Crash
Ten people unfortunately remain in hospital and a teacherdied following the crash of a school coach on its way back from a ski holiday.
One teacher was killed in the accident, Mr Peter Rippington (aged: 59) whotaught at Alvechurch School near Birmingham in Worcestershire passed away andmore then 20 people were injured in the crash which happened in northernFrance, Chalons-en-Champagne on Sunday morning. A teenage girl is believed tobe in a critical condition in a Parishospital.
The bus was carrying 19 adults and 29 pupils on board returning from a skiholiday in the Italian resort of Valle d'Aosta. The school trip was organised by school tripspecialist Interski who issued the statement:
"An accident occurred at 02.30 hours on the morning of 19/02/12 atChalon en Champagne.A coach returning to the UKfrom the Aosta Valley, Italy, left the motorway and came to rest at the bottomof an embankment.
"We are saddened and distressed to report the death of a party leader.Our thoughts are with the bereaved family and friends, to whom we offer oursincere condolences.
"We also extend our sympathy to the four seriously injured passengers,to twenty two passengers with minor injuries and to all others involved in thistragic incident."
It is believed the driver may have fell asleep at the wheelalthough the electronic log book which records the hours driven shows nothing unusual.
