Cheap European Burmese Cat Pet Insurance

The European Burmese and the Burmese cats in North America both trace their origins back to Wong Mau, the first Burmese introduced to the West by Dr. Thompson in 1930. Since Wong Mau was the only one of her kind at the time, she was bred with Siamese cats. Her litters revealed that she carried a pointed gene, resulting in both solid and pointed kittens. The solid-colored kittens were selected to develop the Burmese breed. From the U.S., the breed spread to the U.K., where, due to a similar lack of breeding stock, more Siamese were introduced. Over time, the Burmese in Europe and North America took different paths, creating two distinct versions of the breed.

The biggest difference between the two is the wide range of colors seen in the European Burmese. There are 10 recognized colors, thanks to the introduction of the red gene. This gene, introduced both deliberately and accidentally, added red, cream, and various tortoiseshell combinations to the original four colors of brown, chocolate, blue, and lilac.

The European Burmese is elegant but sturdy, with a medium build, strong bones, and excellent muscle tone. They have expressive eyes and a sweet expression. Known for their intelligence, affection, and loyalty, they make excellent pets and love human companionship. While they prefer the company of other animals, they can also thrive as a single pet.

European Burmese kittens are typically available between 12 and 16 weeks old, after they’ve received their vaccinations and are ready for their new homes. The price of a kitten depends on its type, markings, and bloodlines, especially if they come from Grand Champion or Distinguished Merit lineage. These cats are rare and should be kept indoors for their safety, with plenty of scratching posts for their natural behavior. Neutering or spaying is recommended, and declawing is discouraged.

With their affectionate nature and beauty, European Burmese are wonderful companions, bringing joy to any home.
